Description
_____THIS IS NOT FINISHED_____
We're Snake-Eye Studios. We make games we care about. About things we care about. With people we care about.
The law of the Snakes.
There is only one rule among the Snakes, and that is of kindness.
Kindness implies equality.
Being nice is not being kind. Being nice is welcome, but optional. Being kind isn't optional.
People will be treasured and considered before everything else.
There will be no anger at anyone, judging of anyone or blaming anyone.
This includes anger at, judging of or blaming yourself. Especially yourself.
Good will shall be assumed unless proven otherwise.
If you are not comfortable working with people with disabilities, people of any religion, people of any culture, people of any gender (including "none" or "other"), you might want to sit this one out.
We are all in this together.
Projects are hard, no matter how much you care about them. Life is hard too.
Shit happens. Burnout happens. Diseases happen. Breakups happen. Stress happens.
School happens. Disasters happen. Happenings happen. Running out of cocoa happens.
In general: "Life happens".
Suffering in silence is the worst thing you can possibly do.
If you are in trouble beyond your own capacity to manage, let the others know.
If someone needs you, help them, preferring actions over words.
There is no shame here. Life is too short to be ashamed.
No one will think you are crazy. And even if you are, that’s fine. We are crazy too, in our own ways.
You are who you are and are welcome here.
You are new at this. We all are.
You will screw up, sooner or later. We all do, all the time.
No matter how badly you mess up, you will find support here. Just let us know.
This is the time to learn so that when the stakes are actually high you will be ready.
If you cannot complete a task, let the others know as soon as possible.
If you hurt someone, make it up to them, repair the relationship back to where it was and learn for the future.
All opinions are important.
Though not all opinions will result in a change. No voice will be silenced unless it is unkind.
Bootlicking and saying "yes" to everything helps nobody.
Constructive critique and critical thinking is a requirement.
Be honest.
There will be things you need, things you want, things that worry you.
Speak up, or we won’t be able to help you get what you need or want.
Bring your best self to the table, but leave your masks behind. There is no use for that here.
Honesty creates trust, which creates healthy connections. Such connections make for a good life.
The main goal is learning, not profitability.
Don’t be attached to outcomes. The process is what counts.
Shine brightly. Don’t avoid the light. Once your eyes get used to it, there is nothing alike.
If you are alive and wiser at the end of the project, then you have done well.
And even so, in the long run, kindness is all that really matters. Be kind. Be kind. Be kind.
